State holiday

On Monday I’m to begin cataloguing medical instruments from up to 200 years ago. Thank God for this, trying to do the photo archive completely in Czech was torture. Not sure how I feel about the hygiene implications of my new project, but this is a crazy museum and the curator is amazing. I wish I could write about the project he’s doing at the moment. Suffice to say it’s a fascinating line of inquiry delving deep into twentieth century European history and I’m only the second person he’s shown. When it eventually becomes an exhibition in an important Prague museum in two years’ time, I will definitely be here to see it.

But I have two days’ holiday now, and plan to use them to the maximum. I think I’ll spend this afternoon loafing around with Catherine on the Vyšehrad, before going back to the Dump for a sleep and a drink and going out to watch the water ballet.

I passed the year at uni. I got 73% for Italian, which means I got 71% in the written exam, as my oral mark was 75. Everything else was in the 60s, apart from a 51% overall mark for the module I thought I’d have to re-take. This means that my academic situation is not irretrievable, but I’ll have to work very very hard next year, not take a stupid shop job, and regain my discipline as far as the singing’s concerned.

Deep breath, Despina.
