Bollywood night
Having been a bit of a Bollywood star myself:
it was nice to have an opportunity to get back into a sari, and cram my wrists full of bangles.
I’ve mentioned before that they really know how to stare at you here, so when Magda and I jumped on the tram in our saris - hers bright orange and purple, mine turquoise - we were a bit annoyed that people seemed pretty tolerant of us! We got to the outdoor cinema which is on an island in the middle of the Vltava, and found that there was a huge Indian party going on, with dancing, beer, and even the Indian ambassador speaking. We felt at home with so many Indian people there. (I will mention now that I am as English as it gets, I don’t even have Scottish or Irish blood, I’m just English English English, as English as self-deprecation, Gibert and Sullivan, and understatement!)
The film was Lagaan, a gorgeous, award-winning film, beautifully shot. It’s all about love, power, the underdog, and cricket. So uplifting. Magda and I had a great night. And I got to wear a turquoise sari! What bliss!

I fell in love with Irrfan (”A Mighty Heart”), so I am about to go on a big Bollywood binge. I may ask you for tips - it’s terra incognita for me.
Turquoise sari! :-)

there is this little tiny Indian movie theater in my area, and sometimes on weekends I see women dressed in beautiful saris, very colorful and sparkling.
and btw, I am trying to convince my parents to go see Prague with me next month.

Hey Europosh, that’s very cool! Yes I think Prague is a good place for parents.
Vilaine - I’m not too well-informed about Bollywood either to be honest.
Ladies - I love dressing up!
