No can do…!

I have been asked out (or similar) so many times in the last week that I am starting to dread my phone ringing, and I’m not even checking meetup.com.

Why did this sudden spate of interest have to happen now, why not two years ago, or in six months’ time? Obviously somewhere inside, I am flattered, but to be honest I’m just annoyed. Most of these offers are coming from attractive individuals - extremely so, in one case! Well, that wasn’t so much an offer as:

Me: Don’t you dare ask me out!
Him: Oh.

But you get my drift. Offers of dates from attractive people, that I am being forced to turn down. Annoying, but definitely for the best.

And one offer that wasn’t a date. One that was an offer of a lovely new lifestyle, in a beautiful place, doing beautiful things. Something to consider when I get back from Italy. Taking this opportunity would involve challenging prejudice on several fronts (mainly on his side, which makes it doubly wonderful that he has asked me) and I need to be sure that it’s worth it.

  1. Holding back, at this time, would definitely be best for you. :-)

  2. If it’s not the right time, I’d just use all the lurve as a massive ego boost. Yay for being gorgeous and single sweetie, and able to choose. :D

  3. I agree with Brennig. Sometimes when we make a good decision (like your vow), all sorts of good-seeming opportunities present themselves. Don’t let them distract you — there’s plenty of time for that later when you’re back on an even keel.

  4. A lovely new lifestyle? Details, please!

  5. Brennig, Jo, John - you’re all right. The vow has been broken, I’m afraid, but just once. And not since then. Oops.
SG, words like Muswell Hill and Massive Kitchen were bandied about…

  6. A vow is not like virginity. It does not vanish at the first violation.

  7. Just bask in the adoration :-) Nothing wrong in getting an ego boost from time to time.

  8. Adding to sugar007’s comment, this IS a high-class problem!

  9. Thanks Sugar and John - I know it’s a “good” problem to have, and an ego boost, but it is truly annoying too. I think I’m going to go out looking as offputting as possible tonight.

  10. Well isn’t that just Sod’s Law! You go and make a vow like that and wham! All these babes come out of nowhere with love and grapes to feed you and hot bods.
You go girl! You’re in popular demand!
    Mmmmmmmmwah!
